The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged Nigerians to disregard various results currently circulating on social media as the outcome of its nationwide primaries held on May 28 and 29, 2026. In a strongly worded press statement, the party warned that only the National Executive Council (NEC) is authorized to announce the authentic results of the primaries.
According to the statement issued by the Office of the National Publicity Secretary, the results of the primaries are currently in the custody of the NEC, which bears sole responsibility for their official release. The party emphasized that no individual or unauthorized source has the mandate to declare winners from the just-concluded primaries, describing the viral results as misleading and unreliable.
On the directive of the National Leader of the party, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Seriake Dickson, a crucial NEC meeting has been convened to deliberate on the primaries. All members of the NEC have been asked to converge in Abuja for a pre-NEC meeting on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, with the main NEC meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
The NDC assured the general public and party stakeholders that the official list of candidates who will fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming elections will be forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in due course. This, the party said, is when the authentic results will be made public.
The statement was signed by Osa Director Esq, the National Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress. Political observers view the development as a strategic move to maintain party discipline and prevent confusion ahead of the general elections.
